Our Story

Faith Lutheran Church began in 1976, when six member families of Holy Trinity Lutheran in Littleton — along with their pastor, Rev. Jares Bown — organized a mission start to serve the Castle Rock area. The first worship services were held at St. Philip in the Field Episcopal Church near Sedalia. In 1983, the growing congregation moved to the Castle Rock Recreation Center, where mission developer Rev. Dwight Stensgaard served as Pastor. After a l985 move to the Cantril School in Castle Rock, we broke ground for our present facility at 303 North Ridge Road in March of 1987.

After Rev. Stensgaard’s call to a congregation in South Dakota, Rev. Michael Knauff served as Senior Pastor until 2012. Rev. Ebassa Berhanu was called as Associate Pastor in 2011 and was installed as Pastor in 2012 after Rev. Knauff’s departure.

Faith Lutheran Church is a member of Lutheran Congregations in Mission for Christ (LCMC), an affiliation that encourages congregational independence and missional activity. Our congregation includes approximately 150 families from Castle Rock, Elizabeth, Franktown, Parker, Larkspur, and Sedalia.
